i'm kind of a rebel. (i like to prove people wrong.)

I've liked to do this for as long as I can remember.

When I was a kid, my goals consisted of a lot of: "There are no brown girls that have been in this pageant? Well, I'm going to do it And I'm gonna win."

" You don't think that my dance team of little brown girls can make it to the State competition? Well I'm gonna take them. And we're gonna win."

When my parents told me they wouldn't pay for college unless I went into nursing, I went behind their back to audition for a theatre scholarship (I got it. And got a degree in theatre.)

Later this translated into:

"You tell me I'm too short to be a professional actress & dancer? Well I'm gonna do it. And I'm gonna go big."

I THRIVE ON BEING THE UNDERDOG.

This mindset has served me well. It gave me some of the most memorable times of my life: Winning a pageant that I "had no chance" of winning, leading a dance team to competitions where they counted us out and bringing home those damn trophies, studying theatre at  prestigious London institutions, moving to two of my dream cities: NYC and LA- cities that would "probably eat me alive," and appearing in some of my dream roles that- because of my height- I should have never booked.

I say these things not to boast, but so someone reading this can remind themselves never to let anyone count them out. Even if no one believes in you, if you believe in yourself, you can literally make your wildest dreams come true.
