who the hell did i think i was?
After I graduated from college, my first audition out the gate was a lead role in a production of Lagniappe at the prestigious Washington Kennedy Center. I booked it. So my young, naive nineteen year old head got big and daring. I said to myself, "I booked this role, so that must mean I can do Broadway! I'm going to move to NYC, and be on Broadway in a month. Easy Peasy!" Well....if you have been a part of the NYC grind, you know that just isn't (usually) the case. I scraped by, pounded that pavement, and I took every single rejection (and there are a lot) personally. I just wasn't prepared, my skin wasn't thick enough, so I gave up. I started taking production work, booked choreography gigs, and eventually became successful enough to open my own production company. An entirely new career was born. I was blessed and busy enough to work for years producing and choreographing halftime shows and events for the NFL, NBA, various parades around the world, and with a plethora of artists that included Liza Minelli, Stevie Wonder, Brian McKnight, Jennifer Lopez, N*SYNC and 98 Degrees.
